Barkify ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website and services at barkify.app (the "Service"). By using Barkify, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Account and profile data

• Email address, display name, and password (when you sign up with email)
• Profile information you provide: username, name, avatar image, and link profile (social and website links)
• Profile appearance settings (themes, layout) for your public profile page

Usage and preferences

• Reminders (times, days, reminder text) and notification preferences
• Favorites, streaks, badges, and other in-app progress data
• Settings and preferences stored in your account

Technical and visit data

• IP address, approximate location (e.g., city, country), device type, browser, and operating system when you visit our site
• Data stored locally in your browser (e.g., localStorage) to support app functionality and preferences

Your public profile (username, name, avatar, links, appearance) is visible to anyone who visits your profile URL (e.g., barkify.app/yourusername). We do not sell your personal information.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (daily content, reminders, link profiles, dashboard)
• Authenticate you and manage your account
• Send you reminder emails and other notifications you have requested
• Display your public link profile at your chosen username
• Understand how the Service is used (e.g., visitor statistics) and improve security
• Comply with applicable law and protect our rights

We use the following third-party services, which have their own privacy practices:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Firestore database, and Storage (e.g., for avatars). Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Email delivery — To send reminder and notification emails
• Geo/location lookup — We may use services such as ipwho.is to derive approximate location (e.g., city, country) from IP addresses for visitor logging and security
• Visitor logging — We may log visit data (e.g., IP, device, browser, location) and, where configured, send summaries to internal tools (e.g., Discord) for operational and security purposes

We do not control these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Your account and profile data are stored in Firebase (Firestore and Storage). We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data in line with our data deletion process and applicable law. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.

You can:

• Access and update your profile, links, reminders, and settings from within the app
• Delete your account from the Settings/Account area; we will remove your personal data as described above
• Opt out of emails by disabling email reminders or notifications in your settings
• Control public profile by editing or removing the information you share on your link profile page

We use industry-standard practices and services (including Firebase security rules and HTTPS) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to safeguard your information.

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (e.g., in-app or by email) where appropriate.
